Key Responsibilities & Duties
Assist in the repair of vehicles in the workshop to meet Ford & Company standards within designated time frames.
To operate plant and equipment efficiently and safely to ensure satisfactory completion of assigned duties.
To ensure all tasks or allocated duties are completed to a satisfactory and expected standard.
To follow Company procedures and comply with Company policies in respect of H&S, HR practices.
To complete study and / or on job training along with successfully completing each module in the apprenticeship program in a timely fashion
Tenure
This position is a temporary full-time position (for the period of the apprenticeship)
Specific Job Tasks
Record accurately all activity’s at work via Company DMS i.e. clocking to jobs or diverted times codes.
Record accurately details of all repairs made & parts used on Job Cards.
Ensure accurate recording of times worked via the Company DMS to enable accurate calculations of retail, internal and warranty invoices.
Diagnose faults in tractors, farm machines and equipment using manufacturer diagnostic equipment.
Maintain, repair, overhaul, dismantle, repair and reassemble tractors, farm machinery or equipment within manufacturer time guidelines.
Carry out manufacturer services to maintain optimal functionality within manufacturer guide times.
Identify & locate damaged, worn or defective parts.
Test and replace electrical components or wiring using NH diagnostic equipment, test meters, soldering equipment.
Clean and lubricate parts.
Confer with clients to establish and assess problems
Interpersonal skills
Good level of written & verbal communication skills are required
Basic computer key board skills are required
Adaptability and flexibility are required
Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
Ability to work under instruction and take guidance
General
Technician punctuality is paramount. You are required to attend work @ c. 8.45 and be ready to start work at 9.00am.
Attendance and rest breaks must be recorded via the Company nominated systems (currently Bright HR).
Technicians immediate work area must be kept clean, free and clear of clutter. Obvious health & safety requirements / standards must be maintained within the technician’s work area & full use of PPE is mandatory.
The technician must take the upmost care of customers property and ensure that all protective measures to prevent damage to customers property are enlisted.
The technician must exercise and maintain full attention when operating equipment / driving vehicles, giving due consideration for his safety and for all his colleagues i.e. reversing vehicles.
Technicians will, at all times, work in a professional manner – whether in dealing with colleagues, internal or external clients; on site or off site. The technician is a representative of the Company and must act accordingly at all times.
The technician must present himself for work in clean Company / Manufacturer branded workwear and ensuring highest levels of personal hygiene.
The technician, depending on training and experience, will have his performance measure against Company, Industry or Manufacturer KPI’s. It is expected that the Technician will work to high standards, always looking to exceed requirements rather than simply ‘meet’ expectations. The Department Manager will conduct regular reviews on performance and measured against agreed targets / objectives.
The Technician will attend any & all training courses required by the Company and / or the Manufacturer.
Given the nature of the position and its seasonal requirements it is expected that all technicians will facilitate the Company’s customers with out of hours working i.e. late evenings / weekends etc. Wherever possible, the Company will provide as much notice as possible but given the nature of the business this is not always possible i.e. breakdowns.
